As I have stated in previous posts, I am reading Guy Aitchison’s “Reinventing the Tattoo” and working on the exercises therein.  I find a lot of it to be new ground and some of it requires reading several times before the topic sinks in.  The following picture is my first attempt at applying the theories I have read and used in previous exercises.  This one IS all mine, from concept to final coloring… though it does kinda resemble some old biker/Cherry Creek flash from the ’80s and ’90s.  Thanks for checking it out.

Stay tuned for more!

Practice, Practice!

This is an exercise from the book “Reinventing The Tattoo” by Guy Aitchison.  The book is simply amazing.  I have already learned so much about design, texture and even simple things like line restraint.

I have an older exercise or two that I may share in the future, but this is the most recent one that I finished.  I want to stress that I did NOT draw the actual drawing, but that it is instead sketched by Aitchison and made available through the book’s online resources.

Well, enough chatter, here it is!
